• Up on Portero Hill, generally sunny even if the city is gloomy, quiet neighboorhood. The store is fairly small but they have a good magazine collection.

• In the Inner Sunset, nice community, coffee and food nothing exciting though, has art around and good music, near Golden Gate Park which is a very nice walk. Has the four horsemen of the acoffeelypse: coffee, booze, food, and wifi.

• Not much for atmosphere (it's run out of a kind of garage storefront), but some of the best coffee around. In the shopping-friendly and recently gentrified Hayes Valley.

• Heavy with laptoppers due to usually reliable wifi. Bright and roomy.

• Packs a mean brisket. Friendly people, they have sort of a thing for sake + steak. The owner has a big grey mustache.

• Big fancy hotel at the top of nob hill, their top floor is a restaurant. Overpriced but you can't beat the view, all of the bay and SF. Decent overpriced martini's, too.

• Some of the best Mexican food in town, cheap, lots of variety.

Underage Drinking Guide -- New!

• Persian Aub Zam Zam - (above) - have never seen them card at the door, walk in with a few people and sit at one of the corner tables in the back in the dark, let other people buy your cocktails at the bar
• Toronado - (abbove) - they rarely card at the door, if you don't look underage and sit with people at one of the further tables from the bar you have a pretty good chance of having them be able to buy beers for you
